In our modern society, teenagers have been brought up to understand the importance of money and power. Many drama serials have even portrayed the society as very realistic and materialistic where people only understand the "language" of money. Crime rates have been increasing and the number of teenagers getting involved in illegal work are also increasing at an alarming rate.

However, there is a problem which have gone less noticed because of the emphasis on drugs and smoking. Secret societies were common in the olden days. There people went around collecting protection money and are considered the scumbags of our society. Nobody dare to speak up to
them for those who did either pay a high price or were never seen again after going to buy supper at night.

In those days, members would go around cheating innocent and ignorant people to join secret societies. People who were lonely and without friends thought that if they joined they would not be all
alone again. People who were greedy probably agreed readily because members would probably make the offer sound very tempting and full of benefits.

In the 90's, these situations still exist and it has come to a stage when more and more teenagers are pulled into the crime syndicate. Secret society as its name suggests is a illegal movement that does
bad things behind the scenes. Secret societies members are targeting more and more teenagers as teenagers living in society now face lots of problems.

Stress, being an outcast, being always bullied, being poor and being looked down are some of the problems teenagers face. Some teenagers turn to drugs. Some turn to associate themselves with these underworld members.

These teenagers are also promised many luxuries. Perhaps when they are trying to recruit you, they will say,"? Come on, join us. You will enjoy so much things you will probably never have the chance to if you miss such a delicious opportunity!" Well, for me, I think it is a totally foolish hoax. However, when one gets desperate, and finally finds something which might be able to help in reaching their aims, one might just act on impulse without considering the consequences.

These people who have join the secret societies will never be able to break free. They are as good as being committed for life to this gang. It is as if they have invisible chains around them and they have
become slaves of the gang. They are unable to escape and eventually they are drowned by the chains and that's when one has done wrong and is exterminated from the gang. Or when they don¡¯t need you anymore.

Secret societies are ruining our society. These people who have nothing better to do engage in gang fights, they go around places picking on people, they go around picking fights with others. They
think such actions are cool and make them look tough. I think it makes them so na?ve. They are just like little kids who want to have a sweet revenge on people who have underestimated them. Their actions have led not only me, but many others to think they are so silly to destroy
their own future.

These people go in and out of jail as if it is a hotel to them. They act as if they have no respect for the law. They behave as if they have the world in their hands. They are probably the only people who
think shouting and yelling profanities across the street is civilized.

Well, I am obviously talking about the secret societies that perform bad things. They have made our society a more dangerous place to live in and further endanger our lives. Our society is not a totally
crime-free environment, and yet they are present to make our lives more difficult.

However, there are also another side to the expression "secret societies". Since it means underground movement, there are also groups which does things in favour of the people. During the Japanese
occupation, the people who worked secretly, hidden from the eyes of the Japanese, are considered as members of the secret societies. In those times, they were illegal associations to the Japanese. However they worked to drive the Japanese out of their homeland. In this case, they also try to rally support by telling people how good it would be to work hand in hand. However the difference is that you will be able to withdraw from it and all the activities.

On the overall, the secret societies that we know of in the 90's are those that carry out bad things and stuff like that. It is really pitiful to know that so many people have landed themselves in such big
trouble, and some of them might have belonged to the elite group of society. I hope that one day we will be able to be rid of such roots of crime and live in a place where teenagers will not have to fear such things.
